從兩性認知地圖建構差異探討女性化車用衛星導航介面及功能需求設計

摘要


本研究針對女性的空間認知特性與駕駛行為偏好,提出女性適用的車用衛星導航介面設計原型。根據交通部歷年統計資料,女性駕駛的比例從1998年19.4%增加至2010年的30.0%,女性駕駛需求日益受到重視,但市面上標榜的「女性化」科技產品,多著重於廣告行銷和造型包裝,並未確實針對女性訴求及特質進行合適的規劃設計;傳統科技產品皆以男性使用者為準,而忽略了性別中立,長期使用以男性思考為準的設計,女性便自然淪為科技弱勢。以空間導航為例,人之所以能識別和理解環境,關鍵在於能在記憶中重現空間環境的現象,這樣的過程被稱為認知地圖建構,其強調一種認知效率,即人們是以某種簡化的形式儲存空間訊息的。本研究假設兩性空間工作記憶及認知地圖建構存在差異,並進行實驗探討。從過去的文獻中得知,男性多使用「歐幾里得策略」尋路,女性則運用「地標策略」,本研究提出兩性對地標認知上具有差異,並將能夠激起女性注意的地標融入於導航設計中,以女性認知地圖作為設計策略,提出女性化車用衛星導航介面原型,輔助女性於使用導航介面的過程中找到熟悉感與安全感,藉此降低其操作及空間焦慮,提升女性駕駛的尋路信心。並歸納出兩性對車用衛星導航功能需求偏好之差異,以供未來研究參考。

This study focuses on female spatial cognition and driving behavior to design the PND interface prototype for females. According to the statistics given by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications over the years, the proportion of female drivers increased from 19.4%(1998) to 30.0% ( 2010). Even so, until now, people are still bias against female driving. The past technological products have never been gender neutral. Using the product designed for males, females are in a disadvantage in technology. In spatial navigation, the key of us being able to identify and understand the environment is the fact that we can reproduce the space environment in our memory. This process is called the Cognitive map construction. Cognitive map emphasizes a cognitive efficiency, which means that people tend to store spatial information in a simplified form. However, given that each is different with individual factors, the ways for people to simplify spatial information will be different as well. This study hypothesizes that differences exist in working memories of gender space and cognitive map construction, and it is from this point of view that we proceed with our experiment and discussion. The past studies show that gender differences exist in the strategy of wayfinding. Males apply Euclidean strategy, using position and distance to search paths, while females use landmark strategy. This study brings up the issue of different landmark cognition between genders, it is from this point that we attempt to design the PND specifically for females. We use the landmarks females especially notice into the PND to allow a sense of security and familiarity in the process of wayfinding, thus reducing her anxiety in operating and Spatial Anxiety. This study also induces the gender difference in PND preference which can be a reference for future research.
