在人們追求高頻寬的時代,GPON (Gigabit-capable passive optical networks)擁有高頻寬、保護性佳、容易佈署等優點,使得它成為接取網路(Access Network)的熱門技術之一,並且已由ITU-T制定與規範標準。 本篇論文將探討GPON系統中的頻寬配置機制,且依據在2008年ITU-T提出一個動態頻寬配置的參考模型,進行調整,從而提出一個新的動態頻寬配置機制。此動態頻寬配置機制將會利用剩下的頻寬和配置頻寬的方式,期望能減少平均的封包延遲時間,並增加頻寬利用度,最後,透過模擬在不同的網路流量中,來檢驗動態頻寬分配機制的效能。 本論文也討論動態頻寬配置機制和週期的關係,藉由模擬結果來探討週期參數的設定和頻寬配置機制的效能之間的相互影響。
With the rising demand for high bandwidth, GPON (Gigabit-capable passive optical networks) which possesses lots of distinctive advantages such as high bandwidth, good protection, easy deployment has become one of the most popular technologies in broadband access networks. The specification of GPON has been standardized by the ITU-T. This thesis discusses bandwidth allocation mechanisms on GPON. We propose a new dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism based on the reference model by ITU-T in 2008. The dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism utilizes the remaining bandwidth for bandwidth allocation in order to reduce average packet delay and increase bandwidth utilization levels. The simulated performance of such proposed mechanism is evaluated and compared with other proposed algorithms for various network scenarios. This thesis also discusses the relationship between the dynamic bandwidth allocation mechanism and cycle length. It reveals the impacts of the cycle length on the bandwidth allocation mechanism through the simulation results.
