感覺刺激技術應用於舒緩自閉症兒童情緒之玩具設計

摘要


自閉症兒童的情緒與其感覺異常有很大的關係,而情緒所引發的行為問題不僅會影響自閉症兒童的生活與學習,更嚴重者甚至可能導致個體健康或安全的損害。為能減輕情緒波動可能帶來的負面影響,本研究據感覺統合理論的觀點,探討感覺刺激技術的應用模式與舒緩情緒的成效,並透過文獻彙整分析感覺刺激技術現有的相關輔具物理特性之構成元素,結合玩具的趣味性提出設計準則:包含安全性、功能性、適切性與趣味性四個向度,再依玩具設計的準則發展製作出感覺刺激技術玩具。為證實所發展的玩具對自閉症兒童情緒的舒緩成效,本研究對兩名伴隨情緒行為問題的自閉症兒童進行基線期五次、介入期十一次,每次四十分鐘共連續約四週的實驗觀察,其中介入期期間個案於觀察的課堂開始之前需接受玩具五分鐘的介入。經過觀察記錄、評量表評比與訪談資料的分析發現,感覺刺激技術玩具可降低整體情緒行為的發生次數,對情緒不穩行為的改善效果優於自我刺激行為,並且對舒緩嚴重情緒行為發生的當下成效最顯著。

Sensory modulation disorder(SMD) is common in children with autism, and there is evidence for an association between SMD and emotion. The deviation behavior caused by emotion can not only affect autistic children’s daily life and learning, but what is more seriously, it can also lead to body injured. In order to alleviate adverse impacts caused by emotional fluctuations, this research explores applications and the emotional effects of sensory stimulation techniques(SST) based on sensory integration theory. In addition, we proposed design principles for designing and making SST toys by analyzing physical properties of SST assistive devices. In order to verify the effectiveness of using the SST toy on autistic children’s emotion, the research conducts an experiment in two autistic schoolchildren with emotional behavior. The experimental design includes five sessions of baseline and eleven sessions of intervention, each session with forty-minute observation and last about four weeks. SST toy was introduced to intervention stage, each student was treated five minutes individually before the class. The results showed that the SST toy can decrease the emotional behaviors of autistic children. In comparison with self-stimulatory behaviors, emotional instability had better improved. Furthermore, use of SST toy can significantly relax emotions at the moment that severe emotional behaviors happened.
