從通用設計觀點探討指標系統設計之研究-以捷運臺北車站和站前地下街為例

A Study on a Universal Design Perspective to Review the Indicator System Design –The Case Study of MRT Taipei Main Station and Station Front Metro Mall

摘要


「通用設計」源自對弱勢族群之人本關懷,結合友善設計、無障礙空間及廣泛設計的理念,考慮不同族群間之差異程度和需求性的公平使用原則。「地下街」為都市空間集約化成長,興闢專供行人使用之路權開發,指標系統係應用於認知環境之指示性記號,以做為訊息傳達及引導使用者方位之視覺工具。本文有感於「捷運臺北車站」與「站前地下街」空間機能的多元化、動線路徑複雜、使用者眾,然而,其指標系統的通用性不足,導致使用者產生尋路的困擾。因此如何改善指標系統的「通用性」設計以有效解決尋路困擾是本文主要研究目的。 本文以使用後評估(Post-Occupancy Evaluation,簡稱P.O.E),透過文獻回顧與資料分析調查,瞭解現有指標系統設計理念及原則,分析影響使用者之設計因素,透過通用設計理念與原則,以及不同族群之實證研究調查,進行指標系統設計之檢測,包含:標示圖案、文字、箭頭、色彩等項目,檢討指標系統現況缺失,提出使用後意見和研擬改善方式,建立適合所有使用者使用之指標系統設計,以提供未來更合乎人性及更貼近所有使用者需求之指標系統設計的參考。 本研究結論為:現有捷運指標以「共通性」車輛圖像標示,但整體仍缺乏供弱勢族群使用指標,且指標系統內容包含:道路、地標、空間名稱等,標示過於複雜,未來應依資訊重要性與使用者需求性考量,重新調整排列順序和邏輯性,排除不必要的複雜性並分門別類,以使用者皆能獨立操作為改善目標。

“Universal Design” comes from the humanity concern for vulnerable populations. It combines the concepts of friendly design, barrier-free design, and widespread design. It takes the degree of differences among diverse groups into consideration and embraces the “fair usage” principle. “Underground Arcade” is a metropolis space with intensive development. It provides an exclusive right of way for pedestrians. The Indicator System consists of instruction symbols appealing to cognition environment. It is an implement that transmits information and guides users to their destinations. In spite of the multifunctionality of space, the complicacy of routes, and the multitudinousness of users at MRT Taipei Main Station and Station Front Metro Mall, the Indicator System are short of universal functions. This problem causes users’ trouble in wayfinding. Therefore, the main purpose of this research is to discuss how to improve the Indicator System so as to save users troubles of wayfinding. The method used in this research is P.O.E(Post-Occupancy Evaluation). Through reference review and material investigation analysis, we can understand the design principle of the Indicator System and find out what kind of design factors affect the users the most. Subsequently, with Universal Design principles and empirical investigation of different groups, we can examine and evaluate the Indicator System. The items to be examined include: writing, arrow, pattern, and color. Eventually, with the analysis results, we can recognize those important opinions after use and draw up an improvement proposal to establish a universal Indicator System suitable for all users, and finally, to provide a reference for indicator system design tailored to the needs of all users. In conclusion, the Indicator System at MRT Taipei Main Station adopts instruction symbols with a vehicle image. However, as a whole, the Indicator System still lacks the indications for the vulnerable populations. Besides, the subjects of the Indicator System include road name, landmark, space name, etc., all of which make the Indicator System fairly complicated. It’s necessary to make a new arrangement with a logical sequence according to the importance of information and the needs of users. The rearrangement should eliminate unnecessary complication and classify instruction symbols into sorts. The ultimate goal of Indicator System is to make sure that all users can take advantage of the system independently.
