以智慧型手機協助視障者辨識物品

摘要


科技日新月異,近年來手機已成為日常生活常見的行動裝置,且隨著網路高速發展,手機上搭載的功能也越發多樣化,舉凡使用者的身分認證、電子錢包、網路訂票,均可仰賴薄薄的智慧型手機。 本論文以智慧型手機為基礎,結合MINDSTORMS NXT實作盲用條碼辨識及語音回饋系統,簡稱I-Speak,用來以協助視障者在日常生活中有較大的自主能力,減輕協助者的負擔。 為了適用於盲人,所實作的系統建立在Android之手機行動平台,包括線性移動/旋轉機構及遠端存取機制。線性移動及旋轉機構可自動調整手機鏡頭位置以讀取物品上的各式條碼。遠端存取機制則是根據條碼資訊再經由網際網路連線遠端資料庫進行查詢,取回和條碼對應的語音資訊後,由智慧手機喇叭直接以中文語音播送。同時這些語音資訊並不只限於物品名稱,它還可以包括物品成份、及使用期限以及物品相關細節。 本系統不僅能於應用在一般條碼產品的資訊,更可延伸至書籍、藥物使用等使用層面。

In accordance with the fast advance of mobile technology in recent years, the cell phones have become important devices in our daily lives. With the development of Internet, functions of cell phones are also increasingly diverse, features such as all user authentication, e-purse, Internet bookings can be found on a smart phone. The system introduced in this thesis uses a smart phone to assist the visually impaired person in their daily lives to identify objects. This system, referred to as the I-Speak, mainly includes a barcode recognition program, a voice record/play mechanism, and a focusing mechanism. The visually impaired uses I-Speak in their daily life can have a greater autonomy, and consequently reduces the burden of the helper. In order to apply to the visually impaired, the system is built on the Android mobile phone platform. It includes a linear movement / rotation mechanism which adjusts the position of phone camera in order to correctly focus barcode on an object. In addition to access local cache, I-Speak can further connect remote database via the Internet according to the barcode information to retrieve voice information, fetched voice information is then broadcasted by the smart phone through the speakers. The voice content is not just limited to the item name, it can include items composition, the expiry data and any of the object-relevant details. The system does not limit itself to identify objects in daily life only, but can be extended to identify books, music CD, drugs, and many others.
