本研究是將PTFE/Nafion複合膜加入無機材料改質,無機材料包括:磷酸鋯Zirconium Phosphate與矽氧化物tetraethoxysilane(TEOS)。並使用SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope)來觀察表面結構,交流阻抗儀(AC impedance)測定膜材導電度,TGA(thermogravimetric analysis)測定膜材熱穩定性,氣相層析儀(GC)測定甲醇滲透率,並將膜材Nafion117、PTFE/Nafion、PTFE/Nafion- Zr(HPO4)2複合膜及PTFE/Nafion-TEOS複合膜製作成膜電極組(MEA),以單電池測試系統測試其甲醇燃料電池(DMFC)單電池效能。在不同溫度(70–90℃)及甲醇濃度下單電池性能,90℃以下,於複合膜中加入磷酸鋯、矽氧化物雖可降低薄膜甲醇滲透率,但薄膜導電度會下降,DMFC之效能並未因無機物的加入而提升。但在120℃時,PTFE/Nafion-Zr(HPO4)2改質膜的導電度較未改質的複合膜高,因此我們預計在120℃高溫下,無機物改質的複合膜應有較佳的DMFC性能表現。
PTFE/Nafion-Zr(HPO4)2 composite membranes were prepared by impregnation of PTFE/Nafion composite membranes in-situ precipitation process with zirconium phosphate , and PTFE/Nafion-TEOS composite membranes were prepared by impregnation of PTFE/Nafion composite membranes via sol-gel processing with tetraethoxysilane (TEOS). The surface of the composite membrane was investigated using SEM , AC impedance was used to measure the conductivity , thermogravimetric analysis(TGA)to characterize the thermal stability and gas chromatography(GC) the methanol permeability of membranes. Nafion 117 , PTFE/Nafion , PTFE/Nafion-Zr(HPO4)2 ,and PTFE/Nafion-TEOS composite membranes were used to prepare membrane electrode assembly (MEA) .The direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) performances and electrochemical properties of these MEAs were investigated under various temperatures and methanol feed concentrations.
