向列型/圓盤型液晶複合系之光電特性探討

摘要


本研究以側鏈為弱極性基的圓盤型液晶混合末端基為強極性基的向列型低分子液晶,探討此複合系的相行為與光電特性。 經實驗觀察得知(向列型/圓盤型)液晶複合系在90/10~80/20 wt%下所出現的Nematic相由於具有相當的黏度,因此具有特殊的光電現象。 此複合系液晶在特殊比例的Nematic相下,展現出特殊的光電現象:我們以交流電場做測試,可藉由交流電場頻率的改變來達到明暗的改變。且在某些溫度下,改變其交流地場頻率,具有雙安定的光電特性,此雙安定現象有利於有記憶效應。

In this research, the phase behavior and optical-electro properties of a liquid crystalline composite composed of a nematic liquid crystal with a strong polar end group and a discotic liquid crystal with weak side chains was studied A special electric-optic effect was observed at this binary system with a weight ratio range from 80/20~90/10 in the nematic phase owing to its high viscosity. The bistable opaque-transparent states change was investigated when applying AC electric fields on the binary composites under different temperatures.
