多重頻道保留法之GPRS與WLAN數據聯網研究

摘要


行動數據網路(GPRS)可以提供相對於無線區域網路(WLAN)較低的資料傳輸速率(100Kbps),但其系統服務範圍卻比WLAN大很多。相反的,WLAN雖然可提供非常高速(11M~54Mbps)的資料傳輸速率,但其系統服務範圍只是區域性的小面積,將兩個系統整合可結合兩者的優點,在各種不同的環境中提供用戶廣泛區域的數據傳輸系統。本論文提出了多重頻道保留(MTCR)架構整合GPRS/WLAN數據網路的分析與模擬,與頻道共享(CS)架構的性能比較。MTCR架構整合網路性能模擬包含用戶移動性、資料率轉換及WLAN涵蓋區域大小等重要因素。 從模擬與分析結果顯示,在MTCR架構下,所有不同傳輸類型之通話會有相同的新通話阻礙機率,且MTCR架構之交遞失敗機率也會比CS架構小。當整合網路加大WLAN涵蓋區域以降低WLAN至GPRS之交遞延遲,用戶可獲得較佳的交遞性能及較高的通達率(Throughput),但是卻會造成WLAN系統較大的系統負載而有較高的阻礙機率。而論文最後以分析結果驗證模擬結果的合理與正確性。

A cellular data network GPRS can provide relatively low-speed data service (100 Kbps) over a large coverage area. On the other hand, WLAN provides high-speed data service (11M~54M bps) over a geographically small area. An integrated network combines the strengths of each, resulting in a wide-area system capable of providing users with ubiquitous data service ranging from low to high data rates in strategic locations. In this thesis, multiple threshold channel reservation (MTCR) scheme is proposed for an integrated GPRS/WLAN network and compared with the complete sharing (CS) scheme. The traffic performance of the integrated GPRS/WLAN network using MTCR and CS schemes are simulated. The data rate transformation, handoff percentage and mobile terminal mobility are considered in the simulations. The simulation results show that, compared with complete sharing (CS) scheme, the proposed MTCR scheme can provide the same new call blocking probability for different data rate services and lower handoff failure probability for the subscribers in the integrated GPRS/WLAN networks. The overlaid area size is increased to improve the handoff delay from WLAN to GPRS at the expense of higher new call blocking probabilities of the WLAN. The performance analysis results are also used to validate the simulation results.
