Assessing Six Sigma project is an art as well as a science. It is also critical to the success of Six Sigma. Project Selection will determine the probability of success or failure in your deployment. How to select appropriate projects with qualitative and quantitative criteria from many potential projects is a critical strategy. Far too many Black Belts projects fail because they are not discriminating enough in their selection of projects. If project selection is systematically sloppy, the entire Six Sigma effort can fail. Therefore, this paper will develop a systematic project selection method using analytical hierarchy process to select the appropriate projects for Six Sigma. Using the Analytic Network Process (ANP) model, the criteria is clearly defined, and the problem is systematically structured, making it easier for team leaders to select projects. Finally, to evaluate the established project selection model by an electronic company and the results shown the effectiveness and practicality of the ANP method for selecting an appropriate Six Sigma project.
