膽石醇液晶微胞的彩色電子紙研究

摘要


本論文研究由膽石醇液晶微胞製作彩色電子紙,利用可聚合液晶混合膽石醇液晶形成的液晶複合系,在紫外光照射下,當可聚合液晶高於 10% 的重量比例,由於可聚合液晶排列於液晶結構中聚合形成模型骨架,使液晶結構穩定排列,將此複合系液晶利用乳化法形成均勻的液晶微胞,並以紫外光照射,可觀察到含有10%可聚合液晶的系統於成膜前照光聚合可將驅動電壓由6kV/cm降低為4kV/cm,可應用於降低彩色電子紙驅動電壓。使用膽石醇基團旋光性物質可誘導向列型液晶形成fingerprint texture,並以電場控制達到穿透度76%與86%間的雙安定。

In this study, a composite system composed of a UV-curable liquid crystal and cholesteric liquid crystal was investigated. The liquid crystalline phase will be fixed after UV exposure when the concentration of the UV-curable liquid crystal was more than 10%. Using emulsions method formed liquid crystalline droplet including above 10% UV-curable liquid crystal. The film was UV-cured before it was air-dried. The cured film could be driving under lower driving voltage. If nematic liquid crystal was added a chiral dopant with cholesterol group, the fingerprint texture would be induced. The electro-optical effect was also studied.
