This paper investigates the relation between earnings management and analyst characteristics and we want to find out what analyst characteristics can make analyst be an external monitor. We use pre-FD period and post-FD period to test whether the Regulation Fair Disclosure has influence on this relation. Our findings suggest that the firm covered by analysts who make less forecast error or pure pessimistic forecast and covered by more experienced analysts will have lower level of earnings management.
