本篇論述的基本架構,是將創作歷程當中的幾個主要階段及轉變,做更細緻的、全面的、完整的自我剖析。進一步地重新發掘,創作演繹過程之間的因果關係。尤其試圖釐清,自身的創作形式是如何從對物質性的雕塑關注發展到空間裝置,再由空間裝置導引到身體行為,進而轉向影像等複合媒體的創作演練。 在看似差異性頗大且不斷流轉的創作歷程中所顯現的訊息是一種:企圖經由不同的創作形式演練,對創作中所操作的物質材料、使用工具、表現媒介及藝術形式提出一種質疑。然而這個質疑的態度最終根本的對象就是創作主體本身。似乎,幾年來不斷地嘗試以不同的提問方式、不同的切入角度,企圖回應自己在創作上所面臨的問題。這個問題基本上是架構在尋找主體創作觀、藝術觀以及生命態度的發展歷程。 在撰寫論述的過程之中逐漸地發覺,這幾年的創作發展脈絡,其實脫離不了在媒介本質、空間、時間、以及自我的身體等課題上發展。尤其是彼此相互交疊、演繹的部分。因此,我的創作大致而言可區分幾個型態:一、物質性強烈的雕塑;二、介入空間的複合媒體;三、身體行為介入的空間裝置;四、影像與身體行的關係;五、影像的本質;六、影像與時間的關係。 本論述的主體架構也就是依循創作演化的歷程加以撰寫,其內容部分 ,有些是從創作當時的手札、筆記或創作草稿中整理出來的。有的文字是現在撰寫創作論述重新反思後的描述。
