摘要
鏡像階段（Mirror Stage）是拉岡（Lacan）提出，人類在嬰兒時期尚無獨立行動能力時，從鏡子中看見自己的軀體，進而和抱著自己的母親做區分，之後確認自我的存在的一個階段。我們先藉此瞭解到外在自我的存在，並且確認主體（Subject）的行動舉行能夠反映在鏡像中的自我（ego）。 自我意識的存在得到了確立之後，我們不滿足於外在對自我的瞭解，進而以他人（另一個主體）為鏡像，倚靠他人的言語來瞭解自我內在的樣態。而當我們在尋求無論外在或內在的自我樣態時，必然會先有一個預期，之後不管是對鏡像所得到的視覺影像或他人口中得到的聽覺訊息，都是在做一個確認的動作，確認其“反映”出來的樣貌是否和預期相同。若結果相同，則因為感到自己能夠瞭解自我而產生正向情緒，若反之則會對其“鏡像”產生質疑或疑問。 作者接著引述德勒茲（Gilles Deleuze）的概念，透過改變主體、自我與鏡面的主被動關係，產生一連串似曾存在又無法確認的自我表情，這些運動－影像的表情仿佛曾存在於我們生活之中，在開口說話之際或在哭臉轉變成笑臉的中間，但卻被我們所忽略了，因為不承認其存在。不儘只是外在，內在自我的個性及情緒也常出現相同的轉變而不自知，透過外在反射內在的自我意識，嘗試接受及瞭解自我的多面性。洞查我們隨著成長而轉變的生理和心理。 在數位環境下，我們擁有許多被數位化的機會，主體正在被掃瞄著，我們不曾認識幾萬分之一秒中的自己。在時間的片段當中，自我其實是支離破碎的，藉由速度的欺瞞，我們誤以為自我是完整且連貫的。作者更進一步在此討論，數位環境下，自我其實是流變的，片段的，更可能是扭曲的，我們必須重新認識當下流變中的自我。
