“My Funeral” is a story about a funeral director who had a chance to practice his own funeral before the end of his life, to rethink the idea of death and to discover what really matter in one’s life. “Death is an unsolvable question, but we can find clues in our life.” In this story, death is revealed by ceremony. Mankind always try to understand death through complicated ceremonies. But when ceremony itself changed through time, our question about death still remains. When developing the graduation project, I came to realize that I can only understand death by explore life itself. This essay examines this graduation film from the perspectives of genre, tonality, acting, cinematography, lighting, production design and sound design. I also review the mistakes I made during the making of this film. Finally I try to understand what I have learned from this process.
