本篇論文試圖針對李安電影中的女性角色進行探討與分析,包含女性角色的形象塑造、心理狀態的描繪、情節安排等面向,揭示出女性在家庭、社會中定位與角色,以及女性情感的掙扎與壓抑;首先回顧李安歷年創作作品,掌握其創作歷程脈絡與變遷,對應其生平背景與文化養成,了解生命歷程對其電影創作之影響,進而使用心理分析法並對照女性主義,探討李安如何透過鏡頭與電影手法技術塑造與強化戲中女性的特質與性格,主要探討電影為《飲食男女》、《理性與感性》、《臥虎藏龍》、《色∣戒》等片中的女性角色,除《飲食男女》外,餘三部皆改編自小說;以互文性研究法分析小說與電影間,文本的改寫與差異之處,彰顯出導演不同的文化立場與觀看角度。希望本篇論文可以帶領觀者以另一種不同的角度觀看李安的電影,並且藉由女性角色的研究,了解李安如何處理東西文化差異、新舊世代衝突、道德與情感抉擇、理智與慾望掙扎等二元對立的議題,進而掌握李安電影獨特之處。
This thesis aims at exploring and analysing female characters in Ang Lee’s movies, which includes his depiction of woman mentality, the position and role of woman in family and society, and the struggle and repression of woman emotion. In a literature review of Lee’s works, through an understanding of the context and transition of his creation process and a reference to his backgrounds and culture cultivation, we grasp how his life experience influences his movies. Later, by employing psychoanalytic and feminist research methods, I analyze how Lee constructs and strengthens woman characteristic and personality in his movies through camera lens and filmmaking techniques. I explore female characters in “Eat Drink Man Woman”,“ Sense and Sensibility”,“ Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, and“ Lust Caution”, all of which are adaptations of novels except “Eat Drink Man Woman”. From investigating the intersexuality of novels and movies to the differences of text re-adaptations, the director cultural standpoints and point of views can better be seen. I hope this thesis can provide viewers with a different perspective to Lee’s movies, and wish to disclose the complexity and ambiguity of humanity by a research on these female characters. The exploration and survey on these female characters helps comprehending some binary issues Lee deals with like cultural differences in the East and the West, the conflicts within old and new generations, the moral and emotion choices, and the struggle between reason and desire, which would all gives us a better understanding of the uniqueness of Lee’s movies.
