This thesis focuses on the performance in 2014 Taipei National University of Arts winter production Alice in Bed, aiming to explore how an actor prepare and interpret the character in a highly experimental performance. Chapter one is the background of the playwright Susan Sontag and the play Alice in Bed, including the changes which are made by the director. Chapter two emphasizes on the text analysis and building the character. Chapter three highlights the adjustment and the interpretation on the performance during the rehearsal. Chapter four lists out the obstacles and chapter five describes in detail the rehearsal process. Chapter six takes down the examination of the play and makes the introspection on my performance. An epilogue concludes with my acting life in graduate school.
