摘要

本論文為翻譯實務探討之研究，藉由翻譯我國公共電視台之年度報告並進而討論其中的翻譯理論之實踐與中進英翻譯策略之運用。第一章為緒論，包含研究動機與目的，以及研究方法之說明；第二章為文獻探討則共分三節，分別探討公共電視台之背景與其年度報告之重要性，紐馬克的溝通翻譯法和維米爾目的論之內容，以及新聞文體中翻英翻譯技巧和策略；第三章為翻譯實務探討，說明翻譯操作之程序，以及本次翻譯中紐馬克溝通翻譯法與維米爾目的論的實例探討；最後第四章為結論，總結本翻譯研究之主要重點和啟示。透過此次公共電視台之年度報告英譯和實務探討，希冀能為中進英之新聞翻譯之研究有所貢獻。

The aim of this thesis is to explore theories and strategies needed for Chinese to English translations. In particular, I will put these theories and strategies to test through translating Taiwan’s Public Television Service (PTS) annual report. In the first chapter, I will cover the motivation and purpose of this thesis and explain the methodology used for this study. Chapter two will introduce PTS and the importance of its annual report. Moreover, I will conduct a literature review of translation theories that include the communicative translation approach proposed by Peter Newmark and the Skopos theory raised by Hans Vermeer. Lastly, this chapter will discuss the skills and strategies needed to translate the news. The third chapter focuses on translation practices, explaining the procedures I used in translating the PTS report and analyzing sentence structures from the perspectives of the communication and Skopos translation theories. In the last chapter, I form a conclusion of the main findings and how I hope they can contribute to the field of Chinese to English news translation.
