奇努亞．阿奇貝《紛擾不息》英譯中：理論與實務
English-to-Chinese Translation of Chinua Achebe’s No Longer At Ease :Theory and Practice
摘要
本論文旨在探討奇努亞．阿奇貝 (Chinua Achebe) 所著的《紛擾不息》( No Longer At Ease ) 一書之翻譯，在翻譯過程中，針對翻譯理論及策略的應用上，以韋努蒂 (Lawrance Venuti) 所提「歸化」與「異化」以及奈達 (Eugene A. Nida) 之「形式對等」和「動態對等」為指導方針，同時運用「對比分析法」，透過交叉分析比較原文文本．段落、句子、字詞，探討比較英漢語法之間邏輯的差異。此外，筆者對於翻譯時所採用的翻譯技巧與方法，除了精要評述理論之原理原則外，並列舉各章譯文值得探討的例句或段落，來加以佐證筆者對於所提理論之認知。本論文共分為五章。第一章陳述本文的研究動機、目的及方法。第二章介紹作者及原著小說摘要。第三章著重翻譯理論在原作英譯中之應用，分兩章節個別探討韋努蒂及奈達之理論，並佐以筆者翻譯例證。第四章闡述對比分析法之定義和原則以及翻譯實務之應用，同時列舉譯文例證加以評析。第五章總結翻譯本書之心得和感想。本論文結合翻譯理論及策略與對比分析之比較語言學，以客觀專業的態度和方法，對本書英譯中之譯文作翻譯評比。

The thesis presents the author’s translation of the novel No Longer At Ease by Chinua Achebe. In the process of translation, with the theories and strategies applied, the thesis mainly focuses on Venuti’s domestication and Foreignization, along with Nida’s Formal equivalence and Dynamic equivalence. Furthermore, the contrastive analysis is also applied to cross-analyzing and comparing the texts, paragraphs, sentences, and wordings of No Longer At Ease to differentiate the logics and grammars between English and Chinese. In addition, the author not only concisely comments on the essences and principles of the translation theories, strategies and techniques adopted, but also exemplifies a number of paragraphs and sentences for further discussion. The thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 provides the purpose, motive and method of the study. Chapter 2 introduces Chinua Achebe’s literary achievements and gives a summary of the novel. Chapter 3 is based on the applications of translation theories, respectively those of Venuti’s and Nida’s, alongside the author’s translations as examples. Chapter 4 probes into the definition and principle of contrastive analysis as well as its manipulation on the practice of translation by giving examples. Chapter 5 concludes author’s findings and reflections after translating the novel. The author tries to do his best to provide objective opinions and readable translations, hoping that this thesis will be useful for those who are interested in the theory and practice of translation.
