摘要

本論文主旨為翻譯Chinese Economic Coercion against Taiwan: A Tricky Weapon To Use《中國對台灣的經濟脅迫：難以操作的武器》一書，並分析翻譯過程中為達成「動態對等」所運用之翻譯技巧。論文共分為五章。第一章為緒論，探討本論文之研究動機、研究目的以及研究方法。第二章為本書作者之介紹和內容簡介。第三章為譯文文本。第四章為翻譯實務探討，分析了英漢差異，並舉例說明本次翻譯工作所運用之翻譯技巧。第五章為結論。筆者認為翻譯不但要把原文的內容和意思忠實地呈現在譯文裡，而且譯文裡不能有翻譯腔的存在才是最成功的翻譯。而要去除翻譯腔，除了精進英語能力外，尚需要加強漢語能力。兩種工作語言之提升再搭配上翻譯技巧才可做好翻譯。

The purpose of this thesis is to translate a book titled Chinese Economic Coercion against Taiwan: A Tricky Weapon to Use and to discuss translation skills used to achieve “dynamic equivalence” during the translation process. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter one is the introduction that includes the motivation, the purpose, and the methodology of this research. Chapter two briefly introduces the author and the content of the source book. Chapter three is the translated text of the source book. Chapter four is the discussion on the translation. It analyzes the differences between Chinese and English, and gives examples to demonstrate the translation skills used in translating the source book. The final chapter is the conclusion. It is believed that success in translation requires a translator to produce a target text faithful to the meanings of its source text without translationese. To avoid writing translationese, a translator must master both languages involved. Only when mastery of the two languages and application of the translation skills work together can a translator produce good translations.
