摘要

本論文旨在進行《中國與台灣》一書之翻譯與評論。論文共分為五章，第一章闡述作者進行翻譯工作的動機。第二章為翻譯的模式，本書翻譯乃是採用奈達(Eugene Nida)的「靈活對等」(dynamic equivalence)理論來作為本論文研究方法。第三章為本書的翻譯部分。第四章為翻譯實務探討，此處闡述了翻譯時所使用的翻譯原則、翻譯模式，並將翻譯不夠通順之處與李教授修訂後譯文進行分析；同時也說明遭逢翻譯上的困難時之相關因應技巧。第五章為結論，總結各章要旨，並點出作者之翻譯心得，也將如何體現「靈活對等」做出建議。希望透過本文能使翻譯同好們回顧到翻譯之最初點，了解翻譯是種需要不斷精進與練習的一門學問，方能百尺竿頭，更進一步地提升譯文品質與可讀性。

The objective of this thesis is to present this author’s translation and commentary of the book, China and Taiwan-Cross-Strait Relations Under Chen Shui-bian. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces this author’s research motivations and goals. The second chapter is the model of translation using Eugene Nida’s “dynamic equivalence” theory which states that translation consists in reproducing the source language message from meaning to style by rendering the closest natural equivalent in the receptor’s language. The fourth chapter illustrates the translation principles, translation model and explains the related techniques used in the translation process. The concluding chapter, the fifth chapter, summarizes previous chapters, accounts what the author learns from translating this book and gives suggestion on how to realize “dynamic equivalence.” It is humbly hoped that the principles and methods used in this study could offer a case for all translators to think about the original purpose of translation and to understand that translation takes great efforts to master it so that translation quality could be further improved.
