The movies from Hollywood had become a big hit around the globe in recent years, and Taiwan is no exception. However, the research of the subtitle translation didn’t correspond with the popularity of the foreign movies. In addition, some movie publishers sacrifice the quality of the translation for the fast production of movie subtitles. The combination of these two factors has resulted in the lack of audience understanding the movie. The thesis is divided into six chapters: the first introduces the purpose, method and outline of this study. The second explains the definition of subtitle, its writing principle, its application to the film while the third chapter discusses how the domesticating strategy could be used to analyze the subtitle writing. The fourth chapter gives my comments on the subtitle structure, how the connection and sequence of subtitle sections would influence the audience understanding the film. I also tell the readers about the plots of the film so that they could better understand this thesis. The fifth section is the linguistic review of the sentences, phrases, and terms appeared in the subtitle. Special attention is also paid to the interjection and vulgar words. The last chapter is my conclusion, summarizing the main points of my thesis and pinpointing the lessons we can learn and benefits we can obtain from the study of this thesis.
