類JPEG2000之影像壓縮及其應用

On JPEG2000-Like Image Compression and Its Applications

摘要


近年來,影像壓縮技術已經被廣泛利用在節省儲存空間上,以及增進網路傳輸的速度。最新的影像壓縮標準則是JPEG2000,其採用的技術為離散小波轉換與Embedded Block Coding with Optimized Truncation。JPEG2000無論在壓縮率、壓縮品質、容錯處理以及重點區塊處理方面,都表現的比JPEG更有優勢。本論文的主要目的,是將其JPEG2000的基本精神履行,並加以探討。

Image Compression technology has been recently adopted in multimedia application to reduce storage space and increase transmission speed on network. The most recent image compression standard is JPEG2000, which is consisted of Discrete Wavelet Transform and Embedded Block Coding with Optimized Truncation. The JPEG2000 standard is intended as the successor to JPEG for the advantages of better compression ratio, resolution scalability, quality scalability, error resilience, region of interest coding, and etc. The purpose of this thesis is to put image compression into practice with a JPEG2000-like algorithm.
