摘要

ABSTRACT In these times the handicraft industry in Honduras is facing several difficulties, regarding to the labor, financing, increasing cost, among others, but the main issue that this industry has is that there are a lot of small companies producing the same type of product and when they have a considerable order quantity, they are not able to supply it. That has made more difficult the development of the industry and making increasingly arduous the exports of its products. Thisresearch presents Actor‐Network Theory (ANT) as a framework for analyses and understanding of the handicraft’s industry through a case study of such industry. Also ANT is adopted for the development of the network for the comprehension of how the different actors can be integrated and to coordinate the activities and resources for the growth of the industry. We found the main problem of the handicraft’ industry is that a lot of companies produced the same product, and each company in the network is looking for its own interests and working alone. They don’t have the capacity to afford a considerable order. Combining capabilities and the integration of actors is seen by the handicraft’s industry as a very important point for the better performance of the network. By working together, not only the cost of transaction reduced by networking but also the cost of commercial information. In that way, all the actors in the network can gain competitiveness, growth possibilities and create more value to the entire network. Keywords: Actor‐Network Theory; handicraft’s industry; integrate and coordinate activities and resources.
