國外直接投資（FDI）在開發中國家的經濟發展中扮演著關鍵的角色。許多研究認為國外直接投資對地主國的經濟增長是有助益的。儘管已有許多實證文獻探討相關議題，但是不同的實證模型之間仍然存在差異的結果。本論文的目的是以開發中國家的資料，如越南，來分析外國直接投資與經濟增長之間的關係。我們主要採用兩種縱橫資料迴歸模型來填補文獻上的分歧。第一個模型採用1989年至2018年期間，三個主要經濟部門「農林漁業」、「 製造業」和「服務業」的FDI數據；第二個模型擷取了2005年至2018年期間在越南投資的六個主要國家的FDI數據。估計結果發現，不同產業的FDI對越南的產業GDP和總GDP具有正向且顯著的影響。然而，六個主要國家的FDI對越南GDP有正向但不顯著的影響。

ABSTRACT
Foreign direct investment (FDI) is one of the important factors in economic development of developing countries and many studies asserted that FDI is profitable for economic development in the host economy. Related topics have attracted many empirical studies in the existing literature. However, there are still gaps among different empirical models. This thesis’s goal is to clarify the link between FDI and economic growth, taking a developing country, Vietnam, as an example. We endeavor to fill these gaps by using two main kinds of panel regression models. The first model employs the sectoral FDI data invested in 3 major economic sectors including “Agriculture, Forestry, and Fishery”, “Manufacturing”, and “Service” over the period from 1989 to 2018; the second one uses the FDI data from six leading countries which invested in Vietnam during the period from 2005 to 2018. Based on the result of estimation, we found a positive statistically significant link between FDI and on both sectoral gross of domestic product (GDP) and aggregate GDP in Vietnam. However, when using the FDI data from the six countries, FDI has not statistically significant on Vietnam GDP.
