建構易用線上註記平台

Developing an Usable On Line Annotation Platform

摘要


本研究的目的是建立一個在全球資訊網上使用的線上註記平台,作為網路閱讀的輔助工具。隨著網際網路的發展,在網路上學習以及閱讀將成為一個不可避免的趨勢,目前雖然有一些應用程式提供了線上學習的功能,但其中大多數的系統都侷限於單人使用。因此本研究提出一個適合在全球資訊網上學習的系統架構,對目前應用系統所提供的功能加以探討,加入由本研究提出的新系統概念,開發出可在一般瀏覽器上使用的線上註記平台(On Line Annotation Platform)。此平台的功能包括色筆標示(highlight)、加入及編輯註記(annotate)及組織樹狀結構的摘要檢視等。 本研究同時以「可使用性」為訴求為線上註記平台建立使用者導向介面設計模式(User-centered interface design model),並依此介面分析模式分析與設計開發線上註記平台之使用者介面,進行一系列的可使用性評估及測試。 使用者導向介面設計模式是依據相關文獻以及和專家訪談的方式進行,以取得相關的系統分析資料。以此模式來進行註記系統的開發,確實可以快速有效的發展出具有良好可使用性的介面系統。 本研究針對不同的系統版面配置進行實驗,以檢驗其對使用者閱讀理解程度上的影響。本實驗的自變數為系統版面配置,共有上、下、左、右四個水準;依變數為回憶測驗的成績、理解程度及滿意度。共有24位中原大學資管系的學生參與本實驗。本實驗的結果如下: 1. 在本註記系統中,使用不同的註記區域版面配置,對受測者在進行文章閱讀後所實施的回憶測驗成績影響並不顯著。即表示註記區域在任何位置對閱讀時的輔助效果均沒有差別。 2. 使用本註記系統閱讀不同體裁的文章,對受測者在進行文章閱讀後所實施的回憶測驗成績影響並不顯著。即表示不論是文學作品或是科學技術類等的文章,都適合使用本註記系統來做為閱讀輔助的工具。 3. 大學生與小學生在系統介面的需求上有些差異。例如小學生偏好較大的工具圖示及較大的閱讀字體,而且在圖示的提示文字的認知上也有些不同。

The objective of this study is to develop a web-based On-Line Annotation Platform (OLAP), allowing users to read and make annotations on the Web. The major functions of OLAP include highlighting texts, inserting and editing annotations, and organizing and presenting annotations hierarchically. Current applications utilized for word processing and reading, were first investigated. Based on the results of the investigation and literature review, an on-line annotation system structure was developed. The user-centered interface design model was also proposed according to the past research on usability engineering. A series of usability methods, such as expert reviews, heuristic evaluations, and thinking aloud, were performed subsequently. The results of the usability tests have shown that the user-centered design model helps the system developers to find out usability problems of the system, and users’ needs and expectations. An experiment was designed to examine the effects of interface layout on reading comprehension. The independent variable, interface layout, had four levels on annotation location: top, bottom, left, and right. The dependent variables were the recall test score, reading comprehension, and satisfaction. 24 participants from the Department of Management Information Systems of Chung Yuan Christian University participated in the experiment. The main results of the usability experiments indicated the followings: 1. There was no significant difference in recall test between different system interface layouts. 2. There was no significant difference in recall test between different articles. This indicates that the system is a useful tool for Web learners to read different types of articles. 3. The preferences on system interface for undergraduate and elementary school students were different. The elementary school students preferred bigger icons and font size, and they had difficulty understanding some of the pop-up hints of the icons in OLAP.
