People often adjust the text using the scrolling bar when they study information on Visual Display Terminal (VDT) up and down in the viewing window. In using the scrolling bar, they use the mouse to move the text. So, scrolling was a key activity for users to reach best performance and comfort. An experiment was planned in this study to investigate the effect of the dynamic information design on visual performance and visual fatigue. Dynamic information was presented with a scrolling window. The experiment investigates the design factor of the scrolling bar that may affect the visual performance and visual fatigue in searching the target word within a text. The design factors are the size (12pt, 14pt), fonts (Thin-ming, Biao-kai), and scrolling frequency (0.1row per move, 0.5 row per move, 1 row per move, 2 row per move). Visual performance and visual fatigue were measured by miss rate, saccade, blink, critical fusion frequency (CFF), vision, and subjective measures. The results of the experiment were as follow. The two sizes (12pt, 14pt) had no significant effects on the visual performance and visual fatigue. The two fonts (Thin-ming, Biao-kai) had significant effects on the visual performance and visual fatigue. Biao-kai font had the best performance in dynamic information scrolling. The scrolling frequency had significant effects on the visual performance and visual fatigue. When the scrolling frequency was at 2 row per move, it had the worse performance in dynamic information scrolling.
