以光學軟體模擬垂直配向型畫素設計較佳對比度之探討

摘要


本文主要研究之主題垂直配向型驅動模式較佳對比度之探討係由3D液晶光學模擬軟體針對Multi-domain Vertical Alignment(MVA) mode的畫素於Bump兩側容易造成暗態漏光的缺陷設定不同的Bump條件來優化對比度,主要共分為三大部分包括:1.不同Bump寬度與高度、2.不同的Bump wing結構位置、3.不同Black Matrix(BM)遮蔽單元吋法等參數的改變,透過光學計算分析,將得到的結果包含液晶元件中液晶分子的軸向分布和模擬Optical Microscopy(OM)圖以及液晶顯示器不同視角下的光學特性等作分析整理。在最後第四部分模擬目前最新技術Polymer Sustained Vertical Alignment(PSVA) mode的對比度及其光學特性與MVA mode 提升對比之最佳參數相互交叉比較優缺點,評估現行主流之MVA mode設計是否有被PSVA mode取代之必要,避免導入時浪費大量的資源卻無法大幅提昇產品高對比與其光學特性的優勢。

In this study, the subject is to optimize the contrast ratio of the Vertical Alignment mode by using the 3D LCD optical simulation software. Three principle parameters with regard to MVA mode pixel including 1.Different bump width and height, 2.Differnt bump wing unit location, 3.Differnrt BM cover unit width were used to minimize the dark state light-leakage that the naturally drawback of MVA mode pixel were selected. The simulation result of the contrast ratio, liquid crystal director alignment distribution, optical microscopy diagram and other optical characteristics distribution from different viewing angles were discussed and find out the best design parameter. The fourth part is to simulate the PSVA mode pixel contrast ratio, other optical characteristics and make the comparison with the optimum MVA mode pixel to discuss the advantage and drawback between two techniques especially in contrast ratio. Find the best Vertical Alignment mode pixel design parameter to obtain high contrast ratio and high optical quality through the simulation results.
