專業領域職業選擇之時間風險與機會成本

摘要 理論上,決定要進入專業領域工作的人,在做職業選擇決策的那個時間點,應將時間風險和機會成本等因素,納入參考的資訊之一,做出理性的決策。本研究試圖藉由歷年的資料分析和環境變化的因素納入選項,建立一套理性的決策模式,使未來要投入高等教育工作的潛在博士班學生,能有一個衡量的工具,做出較為理性的決策。 本研究首先簡單說明目前大學教師市場的現象,同時也藉由資料推導出理論模型與模型內的變數。藉由整理與推估出歷年大學教師市場與模型變數的資料,帶入理論模型進行實證分析。實證分析結果顯示,影響博士生人數(大學教師供給)的關鍵因素為:1.需博士學位相關工作(呈現正向顯著關係)、 2.碩士生的在學人數(呈現正向顯著關係) 、 3.只需碩士學位工作(呈現負向顯著關係)。 另外,本研究藉由上述的理論模型與實證結果,搭配人口預測資料,推估未來大學教師市場的需求會持續呈現下滑趨勢,直至 2035年後此需求才會呈現穩定的狀態。本研究提供未來想要投入大學教師此專業市場的學生一些參考資訊,而未來要投入此專業市場的人,建議收集上述三種因素的資料,並由這些資料做為決策參考的依據。 關鍵字:職業選擇、大學教師、高等教育

Abstract According to economic theory, when people decide to work in professional fields, they should think the time risk, opportunity cost, and other factors related to this decision. This study focuses on the higher education market in Taiwan and attempts to analyze such decision by developing a rational decision-making model and collect the data to test the model. We hope that this study can provide useful suggestions to the potential doctoral students who plan to work in the higher education market. In this study, we briefly describe the current market phenomenon of university teaching market and use data to derive the theoretical model and the relevant variables. We then put the data into the theoretical model to implement the empirical analysis. Empirical analysis showed that key factors affecting the number of the PhD are the following: 1.the number of need doctorate works (positive and significant relationship) 2.the number of graduate students (positive and significant relationship) 3.the number of the work only need master’s degree (negative significant relationship). Finally, our study estimates the future demand for university teachers by the theoretical model and empirical results with the population projection. The result shows that the demand for university teachers will have a downward trend till 2035, and then the demand will be stable after 2035. This study provides some information for the students who want to be a university teacher, and recommends them to collect data of the model factors as a basis for their decision making.
