The Adagio of Resonance Spa Resort offers visitors a spiritual journey through which they can relax with poetic rhythms. The industrial development during the 20th century rapidly altered social structure, forcing people to quickly become accustomed to the technological advances and enter the 21st century. Although the purpose of this advancement trend was to provide people with better quality of life, as people continuously sought advancement, their lifestyles gradually became time-bound. People worked mechanically to contend with multiple deadlines, overlooking the need to pause occasionally, discern changes in their surroundings, and reflect on their weary souls. Subsequently, people became aware that the fast-paced lifestyles they were leading did not necessarily result in positive personal development. Therefore, they began to meditate on the nature of life, meaning of existence, and value of life, producing a living attitude called “slow living”. In this context, slowness does not have a negative connotation, such as slow physical motion or psychological evasion through procrastination. Instead, slowness aids people in relaxing and reducing hastiness and confusion, creating emotional calmness, and allowing people to engage in a spiritual conversation with their own souls. Through relaxation, human–nature balance is perceived. This thesis was inspired by the emotionally-relieving poem “Slow, Slow Tune” by the Chinese poet Li Qingzhao, who lived during the Song Dynasty. By adjusting poetic rhythm from rapid to slow, the poet expressed her perception of the changes in her surroundings. This study applied the poetic concept of “Slow, Slow Tune” to the calming spa treatment offered within the Adagio of Resonance Spa Resort. People were invited to experience the musically and rhythmically inspired space within the spa resort during their spare time, away from their busy working lifestyles. Visitors were guided along a meandering path to explore a secluded retreat, accompanied by the sound of a babbling brook and perceiving light diffused and filtered through layers of leaves. The visitors were then led up winding stairs, where they looked back to examine the path they had trodden. Each turn represented a voluntary visitor decision, a turning point in the visitors’ spiritual growth. Subsequently, after reaching the open platform connected to both the earth and sky, the visitors reached a sublime spiritual status. During this visit, the visitors’ spirits progressed from frustrated weariness to peaceful relief through calming, emptying, exploration, and transformation. The method of this study included literature review, case analysis, field investigation, and operation and review of the designed experiment. Through these procedures, spatial experiences corresponding to those in the poem “Slow, Slow Tune” were recreated within the spa resort, exhibiting a realm of new spiritual levels.
