Wen-Yuan Chaing is Taiwanese architect. His architectural work is based on modernism and integrates factors such as Nature and landscape in order to create an architectural style which is organic, ecologically friendly and imaginative. In order words, Wen-Yuan Chiang elevates modernism from a purely functional level into a higher level comprising biological, psychological and spiritual aspects. This study proposes to evaluate Wen-Yuan Chiang’s architecture from the standpoint of Kenneth Frampton’s Critical Regionalism so as to manifest Wen-Yuan Chiang’s outstanding contribution in integrating complementary and yet contrasting elements existed between tradition and modernity, culture and technology, landscape and architecture.
