路益師《裸顏》神話中的救贖觀
The Concept of Redemption in C. S. Lewis’ Till We Have Faces
摘要
《裸顏》，是二十世紀中葉，英國偉大的基督徒作家—路益師致力最深，也是一生中最後一部小說。《裸顏》讓我們從流傳已久的神話，體會出基督信仰的中心：因著耶穌基督的替代贖罪，經歷死亡，使我們脫下了醜陋的舊我，與神和好，正如標題所表達的含義，揭開人的靈魂面紗，得以真實面對神。本篇研究欲在《裸顏》主要角色－奧璐兒由醜陋變為美麗的旅程中，以探討「救贖觀」的角度切入，探索並揭露醜惡人性的極待救贖、理性與信心的掙扎以及解讀救贖者賽姬所扮演的角色與工作。最終，奧璐兒對神產生「信心的一躍」所帶來拯救與轉變，讓她得嚐真正的喜樂。 筆者發現故事中的許多情節，嘗試表達下列重要的救贖主題：「獻祭」、「替代」、「息怒與和好」，以及這些救贖之工所具有的特殊意義。筆者接著透過綜覽與分析《裸顔》的救贖觀點，認為其最接近「替代贖罪論」的救贖理論，並且大致符合其中核心的救贖信息。 由於路益師認為神話乃是上帝給全世界各種民族文化的普遍啟示，這也使他敢於以希臘神話來表達基督教思想。基督教與希臘神觀的不同，成為《裸顏》在解釋神的地位時隱藏的衝突，但在多神的世界加入只有唯一真神的基督教救贖思想，也成為《裸顏》的獨特之處。

The book Till We Have Faces, published in the mid twentieth century, is the famous English writer C. S. Lewis’ last and most devoted novel, in which we learn the heart of Christian faith through a modified Greek mythology. Jesus substituted and experienced death in order that we could get rid off the old and ugly self and finally reconcile with God. As the novel’s title implied, people’s soul is unveiled and face the real self before God. The aim of this thesis is to probe into the Christian concept of “redemption”, to expound the need of substitution of the old human nature in which there is always a struggling amoung rationality, confidence and faith, by way of discussing how the main character of Till We Have Faces, Orual, transformed from unattractive to beautiful, and the meaning of the crucial role Psyche plays—the substitutor. At last, Orual, came into faith in God who rescued and changed herself, so she was able to taste the real joy. The present author finds that many scenes in Till We Have Faces are trying to express the ideas of “sacrifice”, “substitute” and “reconcile” and the special meaning behind those different aspects of salvation. By generalizing and analyzing the concept of “redemption” in Till We Have Faces, the present author believes that “substitution” is the closest concept that matches the core of this book. In Lewis’ thought, mythology is one of general revelation that God bestow upon all nationalities, so that he used Greek mythology to express Christian religion. However, Christian religion is different from Greek mythology; thus there is a hiding conflict inside Till We Have Faces when explaining the position of God. Nevertheless, among all the Polytheisms in that era, Till We Have Faces expresses the concept of redemption with monotheism, which later became its uniqueness.
