新移民子女心目中的母親角色

A Study on the Perceptions of Maternal Role of the New Immigrant Children

摘要


新移民女性透過婚姻方式移居臺灣多年,由於她們的加入,臺灣社會的人口結構產生新的改變,隨著新移民家庭逐年增加,新移民女性是如何扮演母親這個角色?本研究目的為瞭解新移民子女心目中的母親角色,描述新移民子女所覺知之經驗與感受,並進一步探討其所期待的母親角色。 本研究以就讀國民小學階段四至六年級學童,且其母親原國籍為越南籍之新移民子女為研究個案,藉由質性研究之半結構式訪談蒐集資料,透過新移民子女的視角,瞭解新移民女性在家庭內扮演母親角色的情形,並詮釋其所代表之意涵。 本研究分別從日常照顧、學習指導、情感支持三方面說明研究發現。整體而言,照顧兒女、負擔家務主要仍是落在女性身上,新移民家庭礙於現實生活的需求,多數母親必須為工作而忙碌,在母親角色的扮演上大多侷限於日常照顧,以滿足孩子生活上的需求為主。母親對中文的瞭解有限,無法順利指導子女的課業學習,多數透過國小自辦的課後照顧班或校外的安親班所協助。此外,隨著科技進步、網路發達、3C產品普及,親子相處的時間受到影響,有些母親不再是子女最依賴的對象,以致情感支持方面的功能發揮有限。 最後,本研究藉由子女的描述,歸納其心目中所期待的母親角色,並藉此重新思考,研究發現中所呈現的情況,並非是新移民家庭所獨有的現象。

Through marriage, female immigrants have been living in Taiwan for years and since then the society framework undergo paradigmatic changes as the number of immigrant families flourish. Our concern would be what are the roles of these female immigrants in this societal shift? This study aims to understand the perception of maternal role of the new immigrant children through their experience and thought; with that understanding better their ideal maternal material. This study population is children studying in primary school from primary4 to 6, with their mother originating from Vietnam. A qualitative study using semi-structured interviews was conducted to collect data, through the eye of new immigrant children to understand the role of new female immigrants as a mother. The study outcomes are daily care, study guise and relationship support. Overall, the job of taking care children and household chores are still the responsibilities of the females. With the thriving demands from the family, most of these female immigrants have to work to fulfill the needs of their children and so their maternal role was restricted in mostly daily care. With only limited understanding towards mandarin, most of them are unable to guide their children personally in their studies. They rely on sending their children to tuition classes after school. Besides, as technology advances, the contact time between the mother and the child has been affected. Mothers are no longer the person they look into thus limiting the development of affection and relationship between mother and child. Lastly, from the perspective of these new immigrant children we concluded from the expected maternal role that the current situation does not solely happen on these new immigrant families.
