勞動跨國移動與匯率之互動關係

The Relationship between International Labor Mobility and the Exchange Rate

摘要


本文建構一個三國模型,探討跨國勞動之移動對一國勞動市場之勞動僱用量與該國之實質匯率有何影響。本文假設第一國為高技術勞動市場,第二國為低技術勞動市場,而本國向第一國輸出高技術勞力,從第二國輸入低技術勞力。本文旨在藉此模型分析高技術勞動力之移出與低技術勞動之移入,對我國勞動市場有何衝擊,以及對我國實質匯率有何影響。 本文發現,跨國勞動移入是否會對本國勞動投入有所影響,與該兩種勞動投入相對風險趨避係數之相對大小有關。其次,在跨國勞動移動對匯率的影響方面,在本國環境下,第二國移入本國之低技術勞動力會透過對本國高技術勞動投入量或對本國低技術勞力投入量之影響,間接影響本國實質匯率。而第二國跨國低技術勞動移入對本國實質匯率之直接影響力,端視第二國跨國勞力的相對風險趨避係數的大小而定。在第一國環境下,本文認為,本國輸出第一國的高技術勞動力會透過對第一國勞動投入量之影響,間接影響第一國之實質匯率。而本國跨國高技術勞動力輸出對第一國實質匯率之直接影響力,端視本國輸出第一國之高技術勞動力的相對風險偏好之大小而定。至於第二國環境下,跨國勞動移動不會對第二國的實質匯率水準有任何影響。

The purpose of this paper is to inspect the impacts of international labor mobility on the labor inputs and real exchange rate, by employing a three-country framework. The paper assumes there exists three different types of countries in the world: country one and country two are respectively high-skilled and low-skilled economies, and home country exports high-skilled labors to country one and imports low-skilled labors from country two. This model helps us to understand how the real phenomenon works and to clarify the effects of the international mobility of high-skilled and low-skilled labors on home labor market and home real exchange rate level. My findings show that the effect of international labor mobility on home labor inputs depends on the relative power of relative risk preference coefficients of home and foreign later inputs. Moreover, the impact of international labor mobility on real exchange rate is also related to the coefficient of relative risk preference. At home country, the mobility of low-skilled labors from country two working at home would indirectly affect home real exchange rate by through high-skilled home labors or low-skilled home labors. Also, the directly influence of international mobility of low-skilled labors from country two working at home on home real exchange rate depends on the coefficient of relative risk preference of them. Furthermore, the mobility of high-skilled labors from home country working at country one would indirectly affect the real exchange rate in country one by through country one labors. Similarly, the directly impact of international mobility of high-skilled labors from home working at country one on the real exchange rate in country one depends on the coefficient of relative risk preference of them. Finally, international labor mobility does not affect the real exchange rate in country two.
