摘要

創新績效與對外直接投資之間的關係已是近年研究者關注的議題。本研究以 292 家台灣企業為研究對象，這些企業同時皆在東南亞及中國進行投資，收集自2000 年至2018 年的數據。採用廠商層級數據的好處在於，更容易區分廠商之間的差別及影響。研究中，我們試著整合了當代的理論觀點，如基礎理論，國際化，上層梯隊理論，制度理論和產業理論，旨在更全面的解釋台灣國內創新績效的決定因素。
從實證結果來看，當台灣廠商在對全部外國國家進行對外直接投資時，它與對外直接投資的金額，進入方式，廠商年齡有正相關關係；但與廠商規模，外國所有權和政黨卻有負相關關係。當台灣廠商在東南亞進行對外直接投資時，與對東南亞直接投資的金額，總出口百分比有正相關關係，與外國所有權負相關關係。而當台灣公司在對中國進行直接投資時，它與進入方式具有正向關係，而與政黨則具有負向關係。這意味著當廠商需要進行對外直接投資時，需先考量自身條件，再決策最適合的對外投資地點。

In recent years, the relationship between innovation performance and outward foreign direct investment (FDI) has received increasing attention. This study undertakes an empirical research of Taiwanese firms. Data were collected from 292 Taiwanese firms that invested in both Southeast Asia and China for the period 2000–2018. Using firm level data helps to easily identify effects among firms. Moreover, this study integrates contemporary theoretical views, including the resource-based view, internationalisation, upper echelons theory, institutional theory and the industry-based view, to comprehensively explain the determinants of Taiwanese firm’s innovation performance.
The results show that Taiwanese firms’ overall outward FDI had a positive relationship with FDI flows, entry mode and age but a negative association with size, foreign ownership and ruling party. Specifically, Taiwanese firms’ outward FDI in Southeast Asia had a positive relationship with FDI flows and exports, but a negative association with foreign ownership. Moreover, Taiwanese firms’ outward FDI in China had a positive relationship with entry mode, but a negative relationship with ruling party.
