網路電視服務品質管理於家用網路之研究

摘要


隨著網際網路普及,一般家庭對網路使用的需求與應用趨於多樣化,從傳統的網頁瀏覽,逐次發展語音、影像及多媒體等應用,以至目前新興的網路電視,網路的應用已不同以往。有限的家用網路資源正備受挑戰,家用網路設備通常無法提供簡單快速的頻寬管理機制,家庭使用者往往也缺乏網路基礎理論知識,使得在家庭網路環境設置頻寬管理確保網路電視服務品質變得相當困難。 本論文探討以簡易的家用路由器網路連接孔區分方式,讓家庭用戶只要將網路電視機上盒接到路由器特定接孔上,便能對其做有效的服務品質管理;未來期望在裝置硬體效能允許下,更能夠以自動封包分析方式讓家用路由器能夠自動對網路電視服務進行服務品質管理。

As the Internet becomes an inevitable part in human's life, people desire more applications on the Internet. In addition to web browsing, a number of Internet applications on voices, images, multimedia, and Internet Protocol TV(IPTV) appear in the recent years. The traditional Internet, without a QoS control mechanism, faces a new challenge because of the increasing demand for effective bandwidth management. Indeed, several Internet QoS schemes have been developed. However, it is difficult to configure those schemes for general customers, who are not aware of networking technologies, especially QoS control on Internet Protocol TV. This thesis is to investigate how to use home routers, without complicated configurations, to improve Quality of Service of IPTV over the Internet. Users in a home network can easily obtain a better QoS of IPTV by just connecting the IPTV Set-top Box to a specific port of the access router connected to the Internet. Any device connected to the specific port would receive a guaranteed bandwidth allocation to ensure the QoS of the IPTV application on the device.
