肖像畫描繪的是人類本身,比起與其他畫類更容易引起情感與興趣,而由於其特有的創作背景與方式,肖像畫中的形象參合著畫家、被描繪者、贊助者與觀者的認知與期望,一幅肖像畫所能呈現的,不只是一個人的故事,而是一個社會、甚至是一個世界的故事。面對肖像畫複雜的面向,觀看者與創作者如何以不同的角度切入思考成為值得加以探究的議題。 本研究試著以傳播的角度來看待肖像畫,將肖像畫視為傳遞訊息的媒介圖像符號。若以符號理論來理解肖像畫圖像,肖像畫中的圖像形式與組成必然傳遞著與當代相關的社會意義訊息。本研究即以此為前提,試圖解析並建構一肖像圖像傳達意義的方式。 本研究先透過文獻資料,對傳播基本原理、符號理論與名人形象有所了解,接著針對肖像畫類文獻,整理出肖像畫的三個層面、八種功能以及肖像畫圖像形式符號,再以這些形式元素為依據以及符號理論的概念應用至名人Q版肖像畫個案進行分析,解讀出圖像背後的社會意義。在創作方面,以符號理論中的符號結構、系譜軸與毗鄰軸概念為基礎,建構出象徵名人形象的圖像符號,創作出名人Q版肖像畫。
The particular history of production of the portrait makes its images on canvas a combination of perception and expectation of the artist, the sitter, viewers, and maybe the sponsor. To deal with the complicated images in portrait in different ways is a challenge nowadays. Based on the point of communication, this research considers portrait as a graphic sign transferring information. If we look into graphic of a portrait by semiotics, the form of image and the way of constructing the form should give meaning concerning contemporary society. Therefore the research tries to analyze and establish a way which graphic images of portrait transfer meanings. In the first part, from historic document about semiotics, the portrait and celebrity image, the research finds out the concept of semiotics, factors, functions and unit of the portrait. Then Q-version portrait of celebrity cases are analyzed with form of unit which was listed in the former chapter. In the practice part of research, according to the form of unit of the portrait, applying concept of semiotics such as denotation, connotation, paradigm axis and system axis, seven Q-version celebrity portrait are created in graphic signs with profound social meanings.
