Abstract As long as the leisure activities exist, the recreation conflict comes up. It includes time, space, location, distance, which exists among participants. This study aims at understanding the background, environmental factors and psychological perception of the relevance of the conflict of the riders in Taipei Riverside Road Riding and designing the individual tolerance to compare the disparities between perceived differences and coping behaviors of participants. To use the questionnaire of "socio-economic background", "environmental impact", "psychological factors", "tolerance" and "coping behaviors" as the conducted instrument. Using the quota sampling method to test the riders in Taipei Riverside Riding Road, 581 valid questionnaires were collected during the period of February 15, 2009 to February 28, 2009. Collected data will be analyzed by descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson product-moment correlation and multiple stepwise regression treatment. Results showed that: different levels of education, occupation, participation in time, the number of times of participation on cognitive conflicts have significant differences. The environmental factors and psychological perception of participants also have significant differences with the conflicts;so do the level of tolerance with the coping behaviors. Conclusions: The conflict caused by recreational property on the environment should be enhanced in addition to some of the facilities. Resources which the administration invested in did not only meet the requirement for participants but also not take them as the first priority to improve to avoid the improper allocation of resources made by them. In the aspect of psychological factors, the nature of companions and the purpose of riding affect the most in open conflicts, it is often taken as the conflict norm to analyze. Coping behaviors and conflicts present a positive impact, it means that the more the riders feel satisfied, the conflicts and range of coping behaviors decrease comparatively. For participants, the recreation conflicts will directly affect the riders’ will to visit again.
