Interested in the symbolic meanings and the relationship between light and darkness, my works focus on the artificial lights in the urban nightscapes. The blurry nightscapes are constructed with light and darkness. Without an obvious landmark, I intend to create a spiritual atmosphere, and express my inner feeling toward city and life- ephemeral and fleeting, and the feeling is solidified into the flowing quality in the paintings. . The blurry nightscape is linked to the blurry boundary of right and wrong/truth and lie, and all the contradictions, and also the feeling of been trapped in the fog, unable to locate oneself and find a way out. Light and darkness seems contrasting and opposing to each other, but are actually two sides of the same coin. Allowing the light (white/bright pigment) and darkness (black/dark pigment) flowing into each other, is like a practice of learning to accept the two sides of things.
