The purpose of this study is to develop an instruction aid to promote junior high school students’ forming molecular conceptions. The instruction aid is a multi-media package that includes computer animation and laboratory demonstrations. In order to prove the value about students learning molecular conceptions with the multi-media package as aid, there are two classes containing 84 eighth grade students at a junior high school in Tainan to be selected as test sample, one class is experimental group and the other is control group. The research investigated the impact of the multi-media package on students learning. Students in the experimental group answered the questionnaires regarding this teaching method. We also analyzed students’ misconceptions of molecular; it can provide teachers some guides for their teaching practices in future. Further, teachers who teach physics and chemistry in junior high school now answered the questionnaires regarding the situations and attitudes about using instruction media. The analyzed data from questionnaires indicated that, most teachers still used traditional media like blackboards and textbooks in the classroom because of lacking software and time, but they also thought other media could improve students learning some hard conceptions. About one third students could construct molecular conceptions completely after learning in this period of time, and the others still had some misunderstandings. Students who viewed computer animations and laboratory demonstrations had significantly better achievement about molecular conceptions, and they had positive attitudes toward the aid of multi-media package during learning, and they preferred learning like this. To summarize the need of teachers and students and the results about using this multi-media package during class in practice, it proved the value and viability of this multi-media package for learning molecular conceptions.
