The Research For The Development Process of Hwa-Ga Chen in Da-Bue，Yunlin
Abstract
Since the Hwa-Gu Chen was introduced to Da-Buh, it then became an activity of temple called “Chen-Toe”. It was famous at once. However, follow the transfer of the structure of the society, a large population is moving out from rural village. Hwa-Gu Chen faced the dilemma because of the lack of performers in that period. Fortunately, in 1990’s, because of the pushing from local gentleman and the government, Hwa-Gu Chen has become the most unique activity in Da-Buh. This research is about the history and the special features in the development of Hwa-Gu Chen by interviewing some elder and searching literatures. There are some summaries of the research:
1.Da-Buh is one of the small rural communities in Bao-Chung, Yun-Lin. Because Hwa-Gu Chen did not have a leader, Chao Chaung hired by Cheung-Yu Lin taught Hwa-Gu Chen and became a team leader in 1965. Hwa-Gu Chen then was started.
2.Hwa-Gu Chen was deviated from Tao-Gu Chen, but now it has it’s own characters. The characters of Da-Buh Hwa-Gu Chen include the move by the foot, the direction changing of Chen-Toe and special costumes.
3.Da-Buh Hwa-Gu Culture Promote Association plays a role of communication between residents and seeks for economic sponsor. It also holds many performances in national art seasons.
4.The government has focused on rural culture since1990’s. Rural culture becomes a part of textbook in1993 and other policies make big influences of Da-Buh Hwa-Gu Chen.
5.Hwa-Gu Chen was an activity of religion at the beginning. It became an entertainment later, and a bridge of relationships between residents. Hwa-Gu Chen is not only a religion activity but also a proud of Da-Buh.
6.Da-Buh was a small unfamiliar village before, but now it famous for Hwa-Gu Chen and became a model community in the country. We can see that small community will grow up, because of the Hwa-Gu Chen. Da-Buh can concentrate our attention on culture power, because the key point is “person factor”. Da-Buh Hwa-Gu Culture Promote Association also has significant impacts in the process of development. Finally, we hope it will make this activity succeed.
