「印紀」與「珍本」-中國傳統版式設計美學於書籍設計之創作研究

摘要


書籍是文化傳承的重要載體,中國的傳統書籍形制與結構經歷數千年的演化,在世界文化中獨樹一幟,形成獨特的美學。傳統美學觀念在當代社會是否可以與現代設計相結合,體現其獨特的審美價值,創造新的版式形式,是本研究者希望透過研究探討的問題。本研究的方法是透過文獻、案例分析資料與訪談資料的結合,建構中國傳統版式設計美學學理,並於創作實踐中驗證。在文獻分析部分,本研究對版式設計理論、傳統書籍版面結構及傳統美學概念等面向資料進行整理與歸納,從文獻資料可知,傳統書籍版面格式與構成元素型態受技術影響,其格式特徵適應閱讀的視覺規律,並且其格式功能規劃中體現傳統美學思想;個案研究部分,結合對中國「最美的書」入選書籍中傳統書籍美學應用的版式案例,分析其設計手法;在訪談部分,採行半結構性訪談法,邀請三位書籍設計專家結合自身設計經驗與創作感悟,對「書籍版式設計的工作方法與考量因素」、「對中國傳統書籍版面結構的理解」以及「設計中國傳統風格書籍時的應用方法」三個面向的問題進行訪談,從中歸納出書籍版式設計的思考、操作方法與傳統版式特徵在現代設計中的應用;再結合文獻與案例的分析資料,對訪談產生的資料進行分析。根據文獻分析、個案研究及深度訪談的資料整理與分析,建構本研究學理。並將所建構出的中國傳統版式設計美學學理應用於創作實驗,設計《印·紀》與《武英殿聚珍版程式》兩個主題的書籍。研究發現:1.書籍設計的形式由內容決定,版式設計規範版面中的圖文元素,規劃版面整體性格式。2.中國傳統書籍版面結構的形成受到不同時期書籍形制與技術影響,對版式的佈局考量依靠元素的動勢和不同部分元素在版式中的均衡。3. 傳統書籍中蘊含美學思想,可在現代版式規則基礎上賦予傳統版式的結構及傳統美學思想。中國傳統版式設計美學學理從「版式意味」、「元素佈置」、「留白空間」、「色彩應用」這四個面向建構。4.傳統版式結構在現代設計也可發揮其功能,應活化其文化之養分,結合現代變現方式設計,同時拓展中國傳統風格設計題材應用範圍。

The form and structure of traditional Chinese books have evolved over thousands of years and are unique in the world's cultures, forming a distinct aesthetic. Whether traditional Chinese aesthetic concepts can be combined with modern design to realise their unique aesthetic value and create new forms of layout is what I want to explore by this study. The methodology of this study is to construct an aesthetic theory of traditional Chinese book's layout design by combination of literature, case study data and interview data, and to validate it in creative practice. In the literature analysis section, this study collates theories of layout design as well as the structure of traditional Chinese books and traditional aesthetic concepts. In the interview section, three book design experts were invited to talk about their own design experience and creative insights into the following questions: "working methods and considerations of book layout design", "the layout structure of traditional Chinese books" and "methods of application in traditional Chinese style books". The interviews were conducted to summarise the thinking and practices of book layout design and the application of traditional layout features in modern design; the data generated from the interviews were then analysed by combining literature and case study analysis. Based on the analysis of literature, case studies and in-depth interviews, the thesis of this study is constructed. The theories of traditional Chinese book layout design were applied to the creative experiments, and two books were designed on the themes of "Yin-ji" and "Wuyingdian Juzhen Edition Programme". The study found that: 1. the form of book design is determined by the content, the layout design specification of the graphic elements in the layout, planning the overall character of the layout. 2. the formation of the layout structure of traditional Chinese books is influenced by the shape and technology of books in different periods, the layout of the layout consideration relies on the dynamics of the elements and the balance of different parts of the elements in the layout. 3. traditional books contain aesthetic ideas, can be in the modern layout rules the traditional layout structure and traditional aesthetic ideas can be given a foundation on which to build. The aesthetic theory of traditional Chinese layout design is constructed from the four aspects of "meaning of layout", "arrangement of elements", "white space" and "application of colour". 4. The traditional layout structure can also play its role in modern design, and should be revitalised with its cultural nutrients, combined with modern forms of design, while expanding the scope of application of traditional Chinese design themes.
