謝里法的「臺灣美術史書寫」的發展過程之研究

摘要


臺灣在1970年代面對一連串國際挫折的衝擊,激起知識份子的反思,帶動臺灣本土意識與鄉土運動的風潮。謝里法的《日據時代臺灣美術運動史》於此時問世,引領臺灣美術史研究的熱潮。謝里法在臺灣美術史研究風氣未開的艱困環境下蒐集史料,並將其特殊的時空背景經歷,體現於臺灣美術史的書寫中。在謝里法對臺灣美術史研究的歷程中,包括史料徵集、史觀釐清、寫作者反思、歷史書寫技巧等,都非常值得探討研究。 本論文將從四個軸線探討謝里法的臺灣美術史書寫之發展。第一,從西方及臺灣美術史研究的歷史脈絡,確認謝里法對臺灣美術史研究的重要性。第二,謝里法從藝術家到臺灣美術史家的生命歷程與寫作歷程。第三,分析其《日據時代臺灣美術運動史》的書寫與反思的演變脈絡。第四,分析其《重塑臺灣的心靈》、《臺灣出土人物誌》與《我所看到的上一代》及其歷史小說《紫色大稻埕》、《變色的年代》與《原色大稻埕》的書寫。本論文研究方法包括:(1)美術史學文獻的蒐集與歸納整理,分析美術史研究的歷史脈絡與書寫文體。(2)訪談謝里法得到第一手相關文獻的研究與分析,釐清謝里法的臺灣美術史書寫概念的發展。 本論文從謝里法的思想歷程、寫作歷程及其對臺灣美術史書寫的發展過程,探討謝里法對臺灣美術史研究的影響與貢獻。研究目的在於提供後續研究者對未來臺灣美術史研究的基石,讓生活在這塊土地的人們,能夠了解到臺灣有自己的美術創作與歷史,也能夠一起參與、創造並研究未來的美術及其形成的歷史。

In Taiwan, the impact of a series of setbacks on the international stage in the 1970s sparked reflection among its intellectuals, and drove up the popularity of the Taiwanese localism and nativist movement. Shaih Lifa's “Taiwan's Art Movements Under Japanese Rule” was published around this time and spearheaded the hype around Taiwan art history studies. Shaih Lifa collected historical evidence in a difficult environment, before art history studies were widely accepted in Taiwan. The special circumstances of the times he experienced was fully evident in his works on Taiwanese art history. The process of how Shaih Lifa researched Taiwan art history, such as the collection of historical evidence, clarification of historical perspectives, reflections of the author and techniques for writing history are all worthy of research. This paper explores the development of Taiwan art history writing by Shaih Lifa from four angles. The first is verifying the significance of Shaih Lifa to Taiwan art history studies in the historical context of Western and Taiwanese art history research. The second is analyzing the experiences of Shaih Lifa in life and as a writer as he transformed from an artist to Taiwan art historian. The third is analyzing the evolution of his writing and thoughts in “Taiwan's Art Movements Under Japanese Rule”. The fourth is analyzing his writing in “Reshaping the Mind of Taiwan”, “Figures Unearthed in Taiwan”, and “Notes on Our Predecessors”, as well as his historical novels “La Grande Chaumière Violette”, “Discolored Era”, and “Unaltered Twatutia”. The research methods employed by this paper include: (1) Collection and collation of art history literature to analyze the historical context and writing style of art history studies. (2) Interviews of Shaih Lifa to obtain first hand research and analysis to clarify the development of his writing concepts for Taiwan art history. This paper explores Shaih Lifa’s influence and contributions to Taiwan art history studies from the perspective of his thought processes, writing processes, and his development of Taiwan art history writing. The purpose of the study is to provide a foundation of Taiwan art history studies for future researchers, so that those living on this land might understand its artistic creations and history, as well as participate, create, and study art for the future and the history behind it.
