怒濤掃地仔—衝浪聚落的休閒實踐與團體認同

摘要


本研究以自我民族誌 (auto-ethnography) 研究方法,描述教導我衝浪的田保羅老師所經營之怒濤衝浪店內實習幾年以來與一群熱愛衝浪的好友們相遇、相聚並強烈認同彼此的生命故事。團體形成:我跟我的同伴們皆被衝浪運動帥氣形象吸進了海浪的世界,因學習衝浪而於怒濤衝浪店相識,由於各自相似的個性而互相吸引,進而因衝浪而培養出相同的生活風格,配合海浪的作息生活。一同生活的日子裡累積許多回憶使我們萌生大量情感,將我們繫在一塊兒,一個小型衝浪聚落就此生成。依附怒濤,成為真浪人:自學習衝浪開始,怒濤便是我與同伴們的起點,怒濤對我的意義與價值、在怒濤所留下之回憶,使我強烈地依附於怒濤屋簷下,認同怒濤為海邊的家。而初學衝浪之時,外表是我與同伴認同自身為浪人的重要依據,隨著越加深入實踐浪人的角色,外表的重要性已微乎其微,真正重要的是為追求完美海浪所付諸的實踐,才是我們成為真正浪人的關鍵。「我們」,概念形成:藉由穿著相同服裝,奉行共同準則、儀式,及分享共同理想,在生活中重複著相同的觀點,使我與同伴將彼此視為一共同體。最後透過合作努力實現彼此共同的目標、理想,產生強烈的凝聚力,並以身為「怒濤掃地仔」為榮。

This is a story about how I met a group of people and how we cultivated a sense of identity these years in these years in a surfing club, Nu Tao, which is owned by my surfing instructor , Paul Tien. Group formation: we are addicted into the wave world due to the attractive surfing culture. We cultivated the same life style due to our passion in surfing and the similar personalities. Moreover, surfing influence our same daily routine. Through the time we spent together, we forged a profound friendship. A surfer tribe has been built up. Becoming a real surfer in Nu Tao: Nu Tao is regarded as our start of surfing. The meaning and value of Nu Tao and the memories in Nu Tao are reasons we consider there to be another home. At the beginning, the appearance was the important basis to identify ourselves a surfer. However, when we learned more about becoming a surfer, we found that compared with the external looks, taking action actively in order to chase and pursue extraordinary waves is the most important for a good surfer. "We"- concept formation: By wearing the same clothing, pursuing common guidelines and rituals, sharing common ideals, and repeating the same view in life, we regard ourselves as a community. Finally, because of our efforts, we achieved our common goals, ideals and developed a strong cohesion. We are proud of ourselves because we are “Nu Tao surfers”.
