Purpose: This study aims to explore the experiences of participating virtual concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic, and analyze the experiences of using cognitive reappraisal strategies to cope with the conversion from physical to virtual concerts. Methods: The qualitative data came from 9 in-depth interviews with women who participated in physical concerts in the past and also participated in virtual ticketing concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: The interviewees recognized that the enjoyments of virtual concerts were inferior to those of physical concerts. However, after the adjustment of cognitive reappraisal, interviewees were able to accept the transition and enjoy the virtual concerts. Most interviewees also obtained happiness and satisfaction through participating in virtual concerts, and affirmed the importance of having virtual concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusions: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the interviewees might use the cognitive reappraisal strategies to cope with the changes in leisure activity participation. If the interviewees obtain a certain degree of emotional happiness from the experiences of virtual concerts, their cognitive happiness will be also enhanced.
