台灣職業棒球員參與國際賽前後績效之比較分析

THE EFFECT OF PARTICIPANTING INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENTS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS IN TAIWAN

摘要

現今職業運動員參加國際賽會的情形越來越普遍，許多球員往往因為密集的賽事而產生疲勞或受傷的情形，導致在回到母隊後表現不佳，也引發出職業球團和國家利益孰為輕重的爭議，在各個國家均履見不鮮。台灣最熱門的運動－「棒球」，也在今年中華隊經典賽徵召不順後，浮現出此問題，而這議題也在台灣引起了廣泛的討論。
本研究以資料包絡法(Data Envelopment Analysis，DEA)與麥氏生產力指數(Malmquist Index)來探討台灣職業棒球員在非球季期間入選國家隊前後的效率表現，以瞭解參與國際賽是否會影響職業選手的表現。將選手分為投手和打者兩類，根據過去文獻分別選定投手和打者的投入和產出，得出入選前和入選後的效率前緣，並分析中華隊國手們在進行完國際賽後是否有績效下降的情形。結果顯示球員在打完國際賽後，大多數都有績效下滑的情形，而且連續兩年參賽的選手績效更是較其他選手來得明顯。

Professional baseball players participate in international tournaments is very common nowadays. However, the intense schedule often costs players tired and even
injured, and their performance are therefore affected. The dilemma becomes more serious in Taiwan especially when the national team failed to make second round in the World
Baseball Classics in 2009.
The thesis uses data envelopment analysis(DEA) and malmquist index to study the effect of professional baseball players in Taiwan in participating in international
tournaments on their performance next season. The result shows that the negative effect did exist in most players, and is extremely serious for the one who participated in
international tournaments.
