Handing down of France has a long history in Tainan area. The masters not only served the God, assisted in affairs of routine ceremonies, and served the believers but also played an important role in handing down of Faism. They have also possessed very important function and meaning to the overall development of local belief by adequately displaying characteristics of local ritual. In this study, differences in title and content of “read head”(紅頭) and “black head” (黑頭) in Tainan area were clarified by classifying and defining masters’ titles, images, and scopes of rituals they practiced and recorded in the literatures created from Ching dynasty on. Furthermore, the topic “Xu-jia Clan”(徐甲派) was established in order to explore development and evolvement of this Faism Clan, and Xie-cheng Altar of Sui-men Temple in Nan-cheng was the major research subject. Its organization, operation, cultivation and training of maters, content and inclusion of its ritual were introduced in this study, in order to look into the evolvement and development of Xu-jia Clan in Tainan area.
