文中主要分為三個層次,第一部分為臺灣王船祭典研究,範圍為全臺灣,並劃分為屏東、高雄、臺南、雲嘉、中北東部地區、澎湖、金門、馬祖等八大區塊,以了解臺灣王船祭典現今舉行的廟宇及進行的方式,並探討台灣送王船的因素,再分類出其他有關船信仰的類型。第二部分為屏東地區的迎王研究,分為屏北、屏南兩大區域,以其迎王儀式、廟宇、聚落列為研究重點。也將臺灣王爺信仰分類,再提出王爺與千歲的名詞,在地方使用上的差異,探討三年一科祭典形成的因素。第三部分的主軸放於屏北地區的下淡水溪、隘寮溪流域,有舉行迎王祭典的八個庄頭:屏東市六塊厝、頭前溪、大溪洲,鹽埔鄉彭厝、仕絨、新庄仔,長治鄉番仔寮與內埔鄉犁頭鏢,先述聚落的地理、歷史、廟宇等基本資料,再詳加紀錄迎王儀式內容。最後由迎王的廟宇、時間、王爺、請王地、儀式、王船,嘗試進行屏東地區迎王祭典的分析。使得能夠全面性的了解屏東地區迎王祭典的完整面貌。
The study was divided into three parts. The first part was about Wang Boat Festivals research ranged over Taiwan where was separated into 8 areas : Pingtung, Kaohsiung, Tainan, Yunlin & Chiayi, Middle-North- East Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, Matsu, so as to realize which temple hold this ceremony and its proceedings. On the other hand, we explored the factors of sending off Wang Boat in Taiwan and classified the types of belief in other related boat festivals. The second part was about Wang-Yeh Festival researches in Pingtung County. We divided the range into two areas: Northern and Southern Pingtung, and focused on its ceremonies, temples, and villages. Besides, we also classified the beliefs in Wang-Yeh in Taiwan, and addressed the difference between “Wang-Yeh” and “Chien Sui” in the local use and then explored what factors that ceremony had come into being. The last part was focused on eight villages that hold Wang Boat Festivals near Kaoping River and Ailiao River basins in Northern Pingtung, such as Liukuaitso in Pingtung City, Touchienhsi, Tahsichou, Pengtso in Yenpu Township, Shihjung, Shinchuangtzu, Fantzuliao in Changchih Township and Litoupiao in Neipu Township. We described some fundamental information of these villages firstly such as positions, histories, and temples, and then recorded the matter of this ceremony explicitly. Finally, by the above information that we had discussed, we just tried to analyze Wang-Yeh Festivals in Pingtung in order to realize entirely or get a full view of it.
