Speed up the NPD Process, a Platform for the Product Managers

摘要


為了維持企業的競爭力,在當下有越來越多的企業採用專案管理的方式進行新產品開發,而在專案管理的過程中,有需多問題需要透過跨部門協調合作加以克服;此外,顧客對產品開發的速度與品質要求也逐漸提升,迫使企業得要加速新產品開發專案,其中的一項方法是藉由資訊科技。 本研究利用個案研究法,以深入探討個案公司新產品開發專案的流程,整理出造成專案延誤的問題,其為專案資訊無法正確傳達、各部門權責區分不明確、與跨部門溝通無效率;接著再針對問題設計衡量的指標,並建立一個網頁基礎的溝通平台,讓個案公司的產品經理-專案管理者能透過此溝通平台監控此些專案指標、跨部門的負責人能藉此平台進行溝通合作,進而減少問題發生的機會,一旦問題發生次數減少,各部門之間的工作銜接便更順利,可避免為了彌補錯誤的返工,也使專案順利進行,如此一來,便能縮短新產品開發專案的時程,維持企業競爭力。

To stay competitive in today’s business arena, many firms are adopting project management as a method for the new product development (NPD). Firms have been working on speeding up the projects of the NPD since customers placed higher demand on the speed of the NPD process and the quality, and one of the solutions is to apply information technology. We used a case study in this research to analyze the NPD project process of an electronic firm in order to discover the problems, which would have the process be postponed. Three major problems in this firm were discovered by this research. First, the project information could not be expressed correctly. Second, the responsibility of each department was not defined clearly, and the third was the inefficiency of the cross-functional communication. Several indicators to conduct the problems were designed in this research and an Internet-based platform for project management was created relating to these indicators. By operating the platform, the product manager could supervise the indicators efficiently and avoid those problems during the NPD projects. Once there were fewer problems happened during the projects, the NPD process would be speeding up, and this would help the firm to stay in competitive.
