An Analysis of Heterogeneous Group Rent-Seeking

摘要

本文擴展Katz and Tokatlidu (1996) 的兩階段集團競租競賽架構（two-stage group rent-seeking contest structure），透過進一步將現實世界中不同競租集團之成員，在競租能力以及對於競租標的之評價等兩方面，皆可能有所不同的情況納入考慮，建構一個異質性集團競租分析模型，並以此模型為基礎進行競租分析。全文的討論焦點擺在：探究集團間競租能力與租利評價的差異性，對於社會競租浪費的可能影響效果。本文所推得的分析結果，不同於過往文獻當中有關於競租者（團體）異質性的擴大將會使得社會競租浪費水準下降的分析發現。

This paper expands the discussion of two-stage group rent-seeking contest in Katz and Tokatlidu (1996). We take into consideration the probable heterogeneity in ability to wins and valuation of rent between groups, and conduct heterogeneous group rent-seeking analysis. We focus our discussion on the relationship between groups’ heterogeneity and social rent-seeking waste, and our conclusion is different from the finding of some existing studies about the increasing in rent-seekers’ (groups’) heterogeneity will reduce the social rent-seeking waste.
