Cooper & Kleinschmidt (2007) argues that quality of new product development process are the critical factors to make the new product succeed, and it is composed by six quality factors. This thesis adopts process perspective to examine the relationship between these six quality factors and new product performance. In the meantime, new product development process involve in integration and coordination between multi-functional departments, this study also investigates the moderating effect of knowledge integration coordination mechanisms on quality of new product development process and new product performance. This study collects 124 valid returned samples from manufacturing and technology industry. Using structural equation modeling to test hypothesis shows that quality factors have specific causal relationship, and it also show the existence of mediated variables. It means that executed well in up-front homework will affect product definition, and the product definition will affect the process flexibility, and finally promote new product performance. On the other hand, high level of knowledge integration coordination mechanisms is especially important in initial stage of new product development. In sum, this study provides managers the opportunity to reexamine the new product development process in different way.
